Project Plan Oct-Dec
1999
Milestones, Outputs and timescales
for the project
Aims and Objectives
The main objective of the project is to develop the
internal capacity of voluntary/community organisations working with all ESF target groups.
Through SIESTA these organisations will be able to develop in-house computer skills and
access up to date information about events, funds, unemployment data, audits and reports,
local contacts, examples of best practice etc. It will speed also communication between
the different sectors voluntary, Statutory and commercial - that work with
unemployed sub-target groups.
Siesta will run from June 1999 through May 2000.
The project consists of the following components:
- The creation of an information superhighway and
internet site for the East Sussex community sector
- An audit of needs
- Internet training for 100 immediate beneficiaries (voluntary
organisations)
- Provision of 150 upgraded computers
- The purchase of small items of software and upgrades
- The establishment of 20 access points across East Sussex
- The publicity campaign
- The development of an exit strategy
The project will be accessible to small voluntary and
community groups throughout the county and will be available through a number of outlets
including public libraries to the general public (sub-target groups), thus
providing information about services from all sectors.
Website content will include:
- Voluntary/community information about their
activities, events, newsletters
- Local funding directories with links to other funding sites,
details of where to apply and example projects underway within the county
- The Sussex Directory (an ESF Priority 4 project) designed to map
service provision to unemployed people in East Sussex
- Hyper-text links to other sites of use to voluntary groups
- Links to voluntary/community sector websites
- E-mail address/bulletin board for swift communication and
interaction between groups
