Summary
The aim is to create a training programme which enables target groups to
participate in the project and delivers the project objectives.
The project will identify and develop a series of
training modules that match the expected needs of participants with different levels of
expertise. These modules will be combined to create the training days identified in the
overall objectives.
Expected topics for modules
- Computer Basics - using a PC, basic windows, mouse, introduction
and maintaining your computer, troubleshooting.
- Internet Basics - Using the Internet: email, www, hardware and
software
- The Online Community - using the Internet in the community:
Accessing the on-line community, Information gathering, applying the technology to
community groups functions (e.g. mailing lists for meetings minutes, sharing events
news, on-line newsletters, fundraising)
- Information management and First Class - using First Class for
discussion areas, how to be an on-line manager etc.
- Web Pages - web site design, publishing, publicising your site
(locally and nationally)
- Databases - Understanding an developing computer databases,
adopting common standards, publishing (online and off), Updating mechanisms
In addition, it is desirable to identify other training providers
who may be able to come in at this stage or as part of the exit strategy. Some of their
courses may need to be for a fee if not part of the project but will link closely with the
same training materials
